Monuments to Capitalism not!

Capitalism unfortunately speaks to excess, plunder, and destruction. Can a peaceful society exist without it? Has it gone too far?

.The Capitalocene is an era of fossil energy powering the modern capitalist industrial system, a name that focuses attention on capitalism’s responsibility for the crisis that lies ahead and that is already unfolding, a dying planet, unparalleled inequalities, starvation and hardship for many, wealth and luxury for others.

Is the pursuit of high finance and consumerism the root of all problems that face humanity and a dying planet? Has the Earth has reached a tipping point?

Perhaps instead of arguing whether we are in the Anthropocene or the Capitalocene, we should call this era the Consumerocene. Demand is the driving force of Capitalism, its associated exploitation, and Resource extraction. The quest for money to enable this demand is an overlooked phenomenon and driving force. An unending vicious cycle of reproduction. The snake of consumerism is born from the earth.
